Geese – Getting Killed
Immediate thoughts
Been fixated on this new album. Here are my immediate thoughts…
Geese – Getting Killed
Geese’s new album hums with the paranoia and violence of 21st-century America. Having spent time with Cameron Winter’s excellent solo record earlier this year, I’ve grown accustomed to his voice—an instrument all its own. Like Van Morrison channeling a saxophone, Winter sings with the brassy punch of a trumpet, a fitting parallel to the album’s cover: a trumpet paired with a revolver.
At just 23, Winter and his band are proof that Gen Z’s sharpest rock minds are gravitating toward the grit of late ’60s and early ’70s rock—a sound that feels right for today’s political climate. Geese invoke the swagger of Faces, Bad Company, and most notably the Rolling Stones. The music is scrappy, dynamic, and full of classic-rock energy, yet fresh enough to stick. Like a great T. Rex album, these songs beg to be played on repeat, best with headphones on and eyes closed.
